Superb Hardy Sovereign Smuggler Fly Rod & Sovereign Fly Reel - Estate Collection in Victoria, Prince Edward Island for sale

This beautiful Hardy Sovereign rod and reel set is from an estate sale collection that I am selling for a friend. It has been on display, but never fished. The overall condition is fine 95%. As can be seen in the photos the set is in 95% fine condition. The standard of workmanship on this rod and reel are outstanding – typical Hardy high quality.
The rod is a carbon core deep maroon/brown color with a rosewood reel seat, polished and engraved brass seat lock ring, titanium ferrules, and white dots to simplify the five sections’ assembly alignment. The high grade cork handle is clean and unblemished. The ferrules are whipped with contrasting brown and red thread making the rod finish look elegant. The sections are glossy and unmarked. The sections are stored in a fitted Hardy cloth case. The cloth case rolls up and is fitted in the flawless maroon Hardy aluminum tube with polished brass screw caps. The rod tube has a fitted Hardy protective cloth slip cover. The overall length of the rod tube is approximately 25”, making it an ideal size for travelling and packing in your luggage.
The Sovereign 8/9 reel Serial No 25 is from Hardy’s limited edition Sovereign series. It has a gold anodized finished with gold plated brass fittings. It can be switched easily from right to left hand wind. It has a dial drag knob and a clicker button. It is approximately 3 5/8 inches in diameter and 1 ½ inches wide. The rotation is smooth and balanced.
